Is Obama a Techie?
While most, if not all, of us have seen his “Crackberry” addiction in full effect over the last 2 years, I think it may go even deeper than that. He very well may be a latent techie ready to come out to the world. If you take the time to peruse his website in the technology section, you will see a pretty exhaustive and impressive list of things the pair (Obama/Biden) want to accomplish. Granted, many of the items on the list are a little far-reaching, but it is still nice to know that someone high in government is thinking ahead with technology on their mind, and that has been a rarity for quite a while.
Couple this information with the fact that he is currently seeking a national CTO, and it pretty much gives him full rights to drive a Geek Squad car today…
I sense some changing winds in the IT space by mid-late 2009 and it should be interesting to see how some of these initiatives he set forth start panning out.
I do have an issue with Obama seeking to find a CTO. It may be an just an acronym and the responsibilities will be the important aspect, but I think the nation really needs a CIO initially and possibly a CTO under him/her at a later time, but this is another discussion.
Talk to you later,
